One of the most depressing things that I see in modern day offices is the vast number of printers scattered around office spaces. When there are so many printers then you have the problem of not keeping on top of the situation where printers are out of paper, jammed , out of ink and yet jobs are being sent to them constantly but never collected because the printer needed attention. This results in print jobs being printed out multiple times and old jobs printing out after a printer has been fixed. This is terrible for the environment and such a waste of paper and ink resources AND money!! Another depressing fact is often the ink is more expensive than the printer itself which begs the question, why not just buy a new printer with ink included! Crazy yes but sadly this is the world that we live in and this needs to change!

I propose a centralized office space that has a selection of photocopiers and printers that are managed by a dedicated member of staff who can schedule the jobs and only prints the jobs when the printers are fully functioning.
I introduce EcoPrint, a web application that I have developed that provides a simple drag and drop file interface and a management console to enable all print jobs to be efficiently scheduled. The user simply sends the file they wish to be printed and are then informed when the job is ready for collection.
